2017-2018 Registration Notice

The following letter will be mailed home the week of July 17th

​Dear Parents/Guardians,                                                                                                                    

It’s hard to believe that it’s time to register for the 2017-2018 school year!  There have been some exciting changes around Delavan CUSD #703 and we are eager to get the year started.  The new high school is almost complete and students/parents will be able to tour it during our district wide back-to-school night on August 24th.  Some important information to get the school year started can be found below.

Early Dismissal – 2:15

2:15 Dismissal

** The heat schedule will be a 2:15 dismissal on Tuesday, August 29-Friday, September 1. Following the Labor Day weekend, the heat schedule is determined the night before at the time of the weather forecast.  If the forecast predicts 90 degrees or above for the next day, the heat schedule will be in place and students will be dismissed at 2:15 the next day.  The district’s emergency messaging system will be used for announcing heat days after Labor Day.

Forms for Registration

We have enclosed a student information form, program participation and release form, Chromebook policy form (9th-12th grades) and an athletic form (5th-12th grades).  These forms need to be completed and returned when you come in to register your student(s). Be sure to include an email address on the student information form as the entire district will be Going Green (paperless) at the start of the school year. 

Information at Registration

The following information will be available at registration:

  • Elementary Supply List
  • Junior High and High School needs basic school supplies and any class specific items will be requested as needed
  • At-A-Glance Calendar
  • Handbooks
  • PTO
  • After-School Care
  • Aramark (Breakfast/Lunch)
  • District Planners available for $6
  • Class rosters and student schedules         


There were several modifications to the handbooks for the 2017-2018 school year, so please be sure to review the handbooks in entirety.  Handbooks will be available at registration and can also be found on the district website.  Some specific sections to pay close attention to include:   cell phone policy, Chromebooks, dress code and student appearance, athletic/co-curricular. 

Health Requirements

Information regarding required physicals, immunizations, eye exams and dental exams can be found in the student handbooks.  Handbooks and forms for these requirements can be found on the district website.


The registration fees listed below are to be paid on registration day.  Monthly installments may be setup with the district bookkeeper on registration day, if needed.  All other fees such as cafeteria and activity fees will be available at registration and are also posted on the district website.

Drivers Education



First Day of School

The first day of student attendance will be Monday, August 28 from 8:15-11:30.  Elementary students will meet their homeroom teachers in the Poppenga Gym.  Junior High students will report to the bleachers in the Poppenga Gym.  High School students will report to the new high school gym.  Zero hour band will begin Tuesday, August 29 at 7:30 a.m. 

Fall Sports-First Day of Practice Information

High School Sports

   Football – Camp is July 17th-28th from 6-8 p.m. at Olympia HS; Practice begins August 7th from 6-9 p.m. at Olympia HS

                Golf – Practice begins August 7th at Hartsburg-Emden

                Cross Country – Practice begins August 9th at 9:00 a.m. on the track

                Soccer – Practice begins August 9th from 4-6 p.m. at Eastside Center in East Peoria

   Volleyball – Practice begins August 9th at 7:30 a.m. in the Poppenga Gym, Parent meeting will be August 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the Poppenga Gym

Junior High Sports – Any student who is entering 5th-8th grades is eligible to participate in the following fall sports. 

                Softball – Practice begins July 24th from 9-11:30 a.m. at Lake Park

                Cross Country – Practice begins July 31st at 9:00 a.m. on the track

                Baseball – Practice begins July 31st at 6-8 p.m. at 5th Street Diamond/Vonachen Field

In order for any student-athlete to participate, he/she must have a current physical (sorry, no exceptions)!
